One of the best coffees from eastern Rwanda comes from the Juru cooperative. This farming cooperative was established by its community to build a sustainable way to economically and socially support itself during the economic recession caused by the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The farmers in this area grow high scoring lots of specialty coffee consistently under harsh financial conditions. It is amazing to us that specialty coffee is a source of inspiration for this farming community to escape a cycle of viciousness and poverty. It is with this knowledge that we endeavor to present to you Rwanda Rulindo Juru in the best possible way.
In the cup, this lightly roasted coffee blew us away with its floral and sweet character. You can expect to taste notes of orange blossom, candied fruit, and intense and lingering sweetness in the finish. This coffee excludes class and refinement and is a beautiful expression of resilience and character from the farming community of the Juru Cooperative.
